CERT
Community Emergency Response Team
The Village of Walnut Creek has the distinction of being the first CERT team trained in Wayne County.
If available, emergency services personnel are the best trained and equipped to handle emergencies and they should be used. However, following a catastrophic disaster, you and the community may be on your own for a period of time because of the size of the area affected, lost communications, and impassable roads.
CERT training is designed to prepare you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster. Because emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately, CERT members can make a difference by using the training to save lives and protect property.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Walnut Creek CERT Team, please contact Chief Ken Barrett at 919-778-9991 or email Him and he will help you obtain training.
Walnut Creek CERT Members are: Jim Clough, Dr. Bryson Bateman, Suzi Wharton, Ann Stephens, Linda de Araujo, Darren Howery, Jerry Carter, Barbara Stiles, Woody Woodson, Cathy Woodson and Tom Shaw.
