ROAD PAVING PROJECT

Great news! The long awaited and much needed water drainage and road
repairs are about to begin!  We received three high quality bids from local contractors and plan to officially announce the winner at the next Council Meeting on 10/22.  We hope to begin work on or about November first with the work taking about 45 days.  Once the work begins, there will be activity throughout the Village, but the majority of work will be the resurfacing of Walnut Creek Drive from the entrance to Spring Lake Dam and on Mill Road from the intersection with Walnut Creek Drive to Dobbs Place.  Traffic flow will be affected so avoid the main entrance if at all
possible.  Other areas of the Village will be affected as we attempt to correct poor water
drainage, roadway sink holes, and tree root intrusion.  A number of trees in the Village right-of-way will be cut down.  Affected residents have been notified.  There will also be some turf cut back and removal during the paving and drainage repair operations.  We will make every effort to repair grass disturbance in the right-of-way. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Stoney Sloan at

A Suddenlink representative has advised us that Suddenlink is in dispute with Viacom regarding a requested rate increase. Their contract with Viacom expires at the end of September and if something is not worked out in the next few days, several channels will be removed for this viewing area. Suddenlink has made several offers but each has been declined by Viacom. More information can be obtained by going to this site: www.suddenlinkonyourside.com.

The Village of Walnut Creek surrounds two large lakes and a top-rated golf course in the eastern part of Wayne County, North Carolina. Although Walnut Creek is a relatively new community, the tall pines, the majestic oaks and the flowering dogwoods give evidence that the beauty of the area has existed for many years.

Approximately 370 families enjoy the peace and tranquility of the village. There are only a few businesses within the corporate limits of the village and Walnut Creek is truly a neighborhood community.

The residents of the village elect a village council to govern the community. Danny Jackson presides over the council meetings as Mayor of Walnut Creek. Greg Ricker is Mayor Pro Tem. Lou Cook is the Village Administrator and Sharon Geelen serves the council as Assistant Administrator & Clerk. The Police Department ensures a safe and secure community.

If you'd like to contact the Village directly, please fill this form out and we will get back with you as soon as possible.
